Tuesday 15th of February 2022

Are you looking to get more out of your social media presence in 2022? Do you want to make the best first impression when you get potential customers to your social media profiles?

The time to invest in your social media marketing is now. With the world increasingly moving towards digital environments, businesses need to do the same. Otherwise, you’ll just simply fall behind.

In fact, 62.5% of the world's population use the internet, let alone social media.

More importantly, with the constant updates and social media trends, businesses and brands need to optimise their profiles to grab their audience's attention.

But how do you make a lasting impression on social media?

In this blog post, I will share top tips to make your social media presence stand out. Tips that will help you make the best first impression online.

1) Optimise your platforms

To expect any results on social media, you need to make sure that your profiles are fully optimised.

I’m talking about filling out every detail on each of your profiles.

Let’s be honest. You’re not going to be impressed landing on a social media profile with little to no information. It just does not look good. So why would you expect your potential clients to feel any different?

I’ve compiled a profile checklist for you to follow to ensure that you’ve got every detail covered:

  • Account Handle - Use the full name of your business or brand. Try making all your handles the same across all social media platforms
  • Profile Image - Use a high-quality image of your logo or a headshot of yourself
  • Name - Of course, include your full brand name. If it’s a personal brand, add your profession here, too, so users know what to expect from your page.
  • Bio - Simple, eye-catching description that gives users a clear understanding of who you are, what you do and why they should follow you.
  • Profile Link - A direct link to your website or the information you want them to see.

2) Share high-quality content

To catch the eye of a wandering user, your posts need to be clear and high quality. Nobody likes to engage with a social media profile that does not look visually appealing.

Ensure that each post created is not pixelated or outdated. Your content needs to look fresh, clear and inviting. Additionally,

Aside from looking presentable, your content needs to educate, entertain and inspire your target audience. 80% of your content should entertain and inspire your audience - speaking on their likes, dislikes, pain points, interests, etc. Only 20% of your content should sell your products and services. Remember, people don’t come onto social media to be sold.

3) You need a website!

If you don’t have a website - you need one! It’s like an online brochure for your business.

Most businesses underestimate the impact that an online presence can have on the success of your business - they actually boost your credibility.

There are most likely numerous businesses that provide a similar service to yours. One way to differentiate yourself is to have an attractive website that offers valuable information to potential customers.

Without it, people may doubt your businesses legitimacy.

Additionally, you won’t be able to use all the advertising features of each social media platform.

For example, the Facebook Pixel is a bit of code installed onto your website. It essentially acts as a cookie that tracks the data of anyone that visits your website. It then targets your Facebook ads to those who have already shown interest in your products or services.

Social media cannot be the foundation of your business online.

4) Dont ghost your followers.

Ghosting your followers is the worst thing you can do.

Think when you’ve visited a social media page that has not posted in a while. What do you do? Leave right? Cause how can you trust the words from an old post?

In addition, you need to engage with them as well. It’s unfair to post and expect them to react to your post if you're not returning the favour. You can post the best content consistently, but if you don’t engage with your audience, the chances of you broadening your reach are very slim.

5) Include Social Proof

There's nothing better than visiting a page and seeing real reviews from real people.

In fact, 88% of people trust reviews as much as personal recommendations. And a further 70% will trust a review from someone they don’t even know.

Let’s face it, real people talking about your brand in a positive light will give off a good impression.

Here’s an example of social proof that you could use to boost your online presence.

And, thats a wrap!
