How to Build a Social Media Campaign

This is the way to bring true meaning to your socials...
Launching a marketing campaign on your socials is a great way to increase your social media engagement. Unfortunately, launching a campaign can’t be done through one post to your Instagram feed. A campaign needs to have a clear marketing strategy so that it can be executed perfectly. The point of a campaign is to ultimately show off something new that your business is introducing, whilst simultaneously reflecting who you are as a brand.
A campaign needs to have a clear marketing strategy so that it can be executed perfectly.
Here is what you need to consider when building your social media campaign:

What is the Campaign About?
In order to launch a campaign you need to ask yourself these questions:
  • What is the sole purpose of this campaign?
  • What is the message you are sharing?
  • What do you want to draw people’s attention to?
  • Why should people care about it?
It is important that you can clearly answer these questions because they will help you to truly understand your goal. Having a clear understanding of what you’re communicating will help guide you if you ever lose sight of what you want your campaign to achieve.

Brainstorm Time
Once you’ve established the goal of the campaign, brainstorm the ways in which you want to communicate this. A spider diagram is a great way to orgainse your ideas because you can visually see your thought process. It helps to get all your ideas out on a page because it then allows you to process all of your ideas and structure them into a clear business plan.

Audit Incoming
A social media audit is essential when launching a campaign. An audit is important because it lets you reflect on the current trends/themes of your social media platforms. You can then use this information to help inform how you want to display your new campaign.

When carrying out the audit, think about:
  • What is the sole purpose of this campaign?
  • What is the message you are sharing?
  • What do you want to draw people’s attention to?
  • Why should people care about it?
Knowing the answers to these three points will allow you to see where you can improve. You can take this list of improvements and apply them to your campaign to ensure that it is flawless. Another reason that an audit is important is because it will help when coming up with the visual concept of the campaign. If your campaign has a certain aesthetic, you need to see how it works with your current socials, particularly Instagram which is a more visual space. If there is a clash then you need to consider using dividers to signal a change.

Get Creative
Time to get creative and think about how you are going to present your campaign across your socials; think about which mediums will best express your message. This is a chance to have some fun with the visuals and show off your expressive side. You could create a video series and use them as teaser trailers for the actual campaign. Or you could make colorful graphics that help emphasise the main aspects of your campaign.

To use the cliche, ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’ and neither will your campaign be. Take your time with it and be sure that your final product is something you are proud to post!
